Macro Photography

Taking photos with a macro lens can be hard, mainly because this lens type has a very shallow depth of field. You need to be really stable so you don’t move your razor thin focus area away from the subject, and also decide which part of the subject will be in focus while the rest is blurry, such as a lizard’s eye below!

This lizard was a very polite subject for me, staying very still allowing me to take a bunch of photos and also just look at a lizard up close which I’ve never been able to before. It appeared to be mid feast with insect wings sticking out of it’s mouth. Eventually I realised the lizard was not moving at all, not even breathing, it probably died where I found it due to this big insect it tried swallowing. Upon realising this I placed this ambitious lizard outside to feed another animal, which hopefully didn’t choke on it.
